Errors creating Oracle database on Fedora Core 2

I am attempting to create an Oracle database on Fedora Core 2. It works fine when created on Core 1, but I get these problems on Core 2: ORA-27125 - unable to create shared memory segment. In the log file, the statement 'Linux Error: 1 : Operation not Permitted' is listed. I have checked and modified the shmmax parameter. Any ideas?

Did you reboot the server afer you modified SHMMAX? Most Linux installations overwrite the file that contains SHMMAX on reboot. So you'll have to make sure that your changes are persistent. The Oracle docs give exact details on how to do just that.
