Q

Downloading application tables from 9i to 8i

I have Oracle 8i installed on a Windows-based server and Oracle 9i installed on a Unix server. I understand that the Oracle 8i database can be downloaded and uploaded into 9i with a standard tool set. How do I do the reverse, namely, download application tables from 9i and load them back to the 8i database?

You will want to use the Oracle export and import utilities. Use the 8i export and 8i import utilities. The documentation for these utilities can be found here. Since you are moving data from a higher version to a lower version, use the lower version's utilities for both the export and import.
