Q

Disadvantages of direct export

Are there any disadvantages to doing a direct export?
There are a few. Prior to Oracle 8.1.5, the Direct Path export did not export rows with LOB data. Also, Virtual Private Database (VPD) and Label Security mechanisms are not enforced with Direct Path exports. Otherwise Direct Path exports are a good thing to use. They can significantly increase export performance.
