We are running our ERP system on a Oracle 9i database on Windows 2000. Because of some fault in the UPS, our database...
server went down without a proper shutdown. Since then our database instance is not working. We are getting ORA-01033 error when our ERP application tries to connect to the database. How can we solve this problem?
The ORA-1033 error is telling you that the database is in the process of shutting down. To fix this problem, follow these steps:
- Fire up SQL*Plus and connect as SYSDBA
- SHUTDOWN ABORT
The SHUTDOWN ABORT command will force the database to stop. The STARTUP command will start the database and apply recovery to any active transactions.
