Creating a performance tuning document
I have been assigned the task to create a performance tuning document which will help other DBAs in sizing the database and tuning performance. The guidelines given to me are:
1. It should show recommeded vales for the instance tuning.
2. It should recommend indexes, e.g., types of index and their usage in tuning.
3. It should describe how to use hints.
If you have a template document it would help me a lot.
I can't supply you with a template, but I would suggest that you start
by making sure that you've read and understood both the Oracle
Concepts manual and Oracle Performance Tuning manual. You can then
devise the document that makes the most sense for your situation.
Just remember that the biggest influence on performance is database
and application design, not database server configuration.
