Copying table from production to test server

I took the full database export backup in an 11i apps database and tried to import a table from a production server to the same setup in the test server. I would like to know the reason why the row count doubled in the test environment after importing the same table to the same schema.

I took the full database export backup in an 11i apps database and tried to import a table from a production server called emp_dev_details from the schema powererp to the same setup in the test server to the same schema, but before importing there were 2,334 rows in the production table and there were around 2,320 rows in the test setup in the emp_dev_details table. But after importing the table emp_dev_details from production to the test server, the rows had to be the same (2,334) in both the setups. However in the test server the row count in the table emp_dev_details is around 4,668. I would like to know the reason why the row count doubled in the test environment after importing the same table to the same schema.
If you import with IGNORE=Y, then the import process will ignore the fact that the table already exists. The import process will then append any data in the dump file to the contents of the table. This is why your table appears to have twice as many rows -- half of it previously existed and the other half was just added during the import operation. If you do not want double the rows, drop the table before you run the import process.
