Q

Copy tablespace and dbf files without export

Is is possible to copy one tablespace and all of its dbf files from one Oracle instance to another Oracle instance without doing an export, just a Unix copy command?

Is is possible to copy one tablespace and all of its dbf files from one Oracle instance to another Oracle instance without doing an export, just a Unix copy command? If so, what are the steps for doing this?
The feature to do exactly what you describe is called Transportable Tablespaces (TTS). With TTS, you copy the datafiles to a new database server and plug in the tablespace. The steps are outlined in this Oracle document.
