Codepages used in Oracle 10g database instance

How to know the codepage used in an Oracle 10gR2 database instance installed on Windows 2003 Server?

How to know the codepage used in an Oracle 10gR2 database instance installed on Windows 2003 Server? And is it global for all underlying schemas or can each have a different codepage? If so, how to know each one? Thanks in advance.
Oracle calls the codepages "character sets." There is one characterset for the entire database, so each schema shares this characterset. However, your session can be changed to a different characterset with the ALTER SESSION command. The data will be stored in the database's characterset, but the session can interact with a different one.
