I am trying to apply the 9.2.0.6 patch on Oracle version 9.2.0.1. While applying the patch it is giving a list of services which need to be shut down. My computer is part of a LAN network. I am unable to stop some of the services due to this. For example, the remote procedure call. The options for stopping the services are disabled. Kindly tell me what I should do in order to upgrade my database to a higher version.

This may present a problem with upgrading your database if you cannot shut down relevant services. Is there a way to possibly arrange for a scheduled outage to do this? I'm quite certain that your upgrade will fail if these services have not been stopped as required by the upgrade process.
