Can't log in to Oracle after upgrading to Windows XP Professional

I have Windows XP Home Edition. I upgraded it to Windows XP Professional, then I installed Oracle 9i. I could not log into Oracle using SQL*Plus. I received error 12571. Can you kindly help me to resolve this problem?

If you installed Windows XP Service Pak2, then you probably have the default Windows firewall blocking access to the listener port. Configure your firewall to allow access through on port 1521 and that will probably do the trick. If you aren't sure how to reconfigure the firewall, you can just disable it completely (temporarily) to confirm that it is causing the problem. Then enable it and work on figuring out how to reconfigure it. I don't use Windows, so I can't help more than that.
