I still can't force a log switch. The result of archive log list on my database is as follows: 
Database log mode    Archive mode
Automatic archival   Disabled
Archive destination  D:oracleora81RDBMS
Oldest online log sequence  332
Next log sequence           332
Current log sequence        335
With this result kindly tell me if anything is wrong. There is enough space in the archive destination.

Your database is in Archivelog mode, but you have not enabled automatic archival. Make sure that you have set the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST or LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n parameters correctly. You'll also need to set LOG_ARCHIVE_FORMAT and set LOG_ARCHIVE_START=TRUE. Then shutdown your database and restart it. Now that you have LOG_ARCHIVE_START=TRUE, you should see "Automatic archival Enabled" when you issue ARCHIVE LOG LIST.
