I am unable to start the OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListener service log in a local system. When I first downloaded 10g, everything was working fine; all the services were starting up. In the last two days I am having problems. As a result I am not able to login to my DB via Toad. But the strange thing is I am able to login to SQL*PLUS with the same username and password.
There could be many reasons why the service will not start. Did you look at the server's Event Viewer to see if there were any error messages which can help you diagnose the problem? Also look at %ORACLE_HOME%\network\log\listener.log to see if error messages are there. Without meaningful error messages, it is close to impossible to diagnose your problem.
