Best approach for resizing SGA

What is the best approach for resizing the SGA? I have a Solaris Server with 8 gigs of RAM with three databases on the server. Is there a formula for how to configure the SGA?

It's important to mention which version of Oracle you are running when you ask a question such as this. If you are running Oracle9i or later, you can let Oracle manage SGA component sizes. Define the init.ora parameter SGA_TARGET to set the total SGA size for an instance; Oracle will arrive at an initial configuration, and then adjust the sizes of SGA areas as needed.
