Allocating bytes as extents in Oracle

The following query returned below indicated bytes and extents.

select segment_name, bytes, extents from dba_segments where owner = 'PPSPROD' and segment_name = 'ACTIVITY_LOG';

SEGMENT_NAME BYTES EXTENTS ---------- ---------- -------- ACTIVITY_LOG 44646400 218

My question is this: Is the total table size equal to 44,646,400 bytes or 44,646,400x218?

The toal size is 44,646,400 bytes. Oracle does not allocate all of these bytes at once. Rather it allocates these bytes in chunks. These chunks are called extents. Your segment has 218 extents, or chunks.
